Chicken Rigs

So I had my ass handed to me yesterday in 17-20 knots (recorded, not guessed).

The wind wasn't the only contributing factor, I was being a scaredy cat with a lot of traffic around, but it made handling tricky, particularly at any hotted up angles and while trying to go slow (pre-start etc).

What are ppls opinions on chicken rigs? Usefulness, size, shape...

I've seen two recently, a purpose built full height one (higher aspect ratio) and an old KA with the bottom chopped off.

Good weekend

Just a quick on water update.

Had a good three races on the weekend. Jack, Markla and I were competing against a 16 foot skiff, a 29er and contender.

Markla and I are improving, Markla with his boatspeed and pointing (after some spreader changes) and my gybes are coming along nicely, about 50/50 foiling and half the rest with light touch-down before powering off again.

a special hello

a special hello to the two people this month who found the bloog (somehow?) by searching for Fonzie!

and before any of you eagle eyed people see me searching for it in the above image, it was just me seeing how far off the front page the bloog is. for those wondering i gave up at page 20.

resistance prediction, table of hydrostatics

resistance numbers and table of hydrostatics now available as part of the design package.

i don't really have much to say about them except they may be useful for anyone doing a VPP where the lowriding, or partially supported case is of interest.
